On Friday 17 and Saturday 18 March, Mill Hill town centre will again get a real taste of Italy. The Mill Hill Italian Market has expanded, with food and fashion stalls from the returning ‘Italia in Piazza’ market alongside a selection of complementary Italian street food and accessories for an even more exciting market experience.

The Italian Market will open both days from 10am. It will be located outside Santander bank and extend up the Broadway towards Mill Hill Wines.

So many things can be associated with Italy – fast cars, sunshine, and football – but perhaps the biggest thing is food. Italy’s passion and love for food is second to none. Italia in Piazza sources the best fresh produce – from the roots of Calabria, famous for its chillies, to the port city of Genova, famous for its pesto. Most of the market’s cheeses come from Lombardy, as does the torrone, or soft nougat. Their olives come from a leading producer in Puglia, who uses traditional harvesting methods. The market’s specialty products also include pasta, cakes and biscuits, olive oil, cured meats, hot food and more.

The Italian Market is part of a calendar of visiting markets for Mill Hill, an initiative organised by Mill Hill Neighbourhood Forum and Vibe Market. The markets aim to increase dwell time and footfall for the town centre, and add vibrancy to the high street.

Upcoming events in Mill Hill town centre include a much anticipated return visit by the French Market on 12-13 May and plans for a summer market on 16-17 June, coinciding with Civic Day on 17 June.

John Gillett, chair of Mill Hill Neighbourhood Forum, said: “This is just one of the many initiatives we have for Mill Hill, to improve our Town Centre – do come along and also let us have your ideas for developing Mill Hill.”

Osita Udenson, managing director for Vibe Market, said: “We are excited to see the expanded Italian Market in Mill Hill in partnership with Italia in Piazza. As a visiting market, its specialist products will complement the existing offer on the High Street and bring a taste of the Mediterranean to London.”

Three hours of free parking are available on Saturdays and Sundays are free in the ‘pay by phone’ Bunns Lane car park. Most side streets are free to park from 12 noon.
